                   ========================================
                           The week of 03/27/06 on
                          T H I S    W A Y    O U T
             the international gay & lesbian radio magazine
   (hosted this week by Greg Gordon and produced with Lucia Chappelle)
         Anti-queer killings are buried in Iraq's sectarian chaos;
  Activists in 4 countries challenge "bloody" discrimination, a gay group
   gains first-ever official registration in India, South Korea promises
  equal treatment for gay conscripts, Americans warm to marriage equality,
    queer parents measure up in new research, and more global GLBT news;
        plus two soloists and a "man band" debut in the "Audiofile"

* In "NewsWrap": Bans on gay men donating blood are challenged in South
Africa, Australia, the U.S. and Canada... the first officially-registered gay group
in India prompts supportive comments from some national celebrities... after
criticism from the country's Human Rights Commission and some bad press, South
Korea's military vows to "treat homosexual soldiers the same as heterosexual
ones"... several surveys are released in the U.S. supporting lesbigay civil
rights and queer families... a law professor's response to a legislator's
biblical question is clearly constitutional... and more GLBT news from around the
world (written this week by GREG GORDON and reported by RICK WATTS and SHERI
LUNN).

* As IRAQ's sectarian crisis is measured each day by the number of bodies
left by death squads overnight, the specific targeting of lesbians and gay men is
being ignored by both the occupying forces and the mainstream media. For a
rare first-hand look at the desperate situation facing Iraqi queers, we turn to
the March 23rd installment of "DEMOCRACY NOW!" with AMY GOODMAN and JUAN
GONZALES. They talk with ALI HILI, an Iraqi gay man who fled his homeland two
years ago and now works from London to free his country from Islamic
fundamentalism, and veteran journalist DOUG IRELAND [edited from the original "Iraqi
Exile Speaks Out Against the Targeting of Gay Iraqis by Shia Death Squads" segment
on "Democracy Now!" which can be heard in its entirety at
www.democracynow.org).

* The inspiration for the artists featured in this month's "AUDIOFILE" comes
from the big city (sampling "Spread the Love" and "The Limit" from DARREN's
"ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE"), personal experience (the title cut and "I'll Be There"
from MATT CLARK's "FREE YOUR MIND") -- and disco! ("Extreme Eighties" and
"Diva Fever" from 4 POOFS AND A PIANO's "SCREAMIN' PARTY ANTHEMS") (with comments
by the artists about their respective CDs, hosted by CHRIS WILSON & JD DOYLE
and written & produced with CHRISTOPHER DAVID TRENTHAM) (www.audiofile.org).
