                   ========================================
                           The week of 03/06/06 on
                          T H I S    W A Y    O U T
             the international gay & lesbian radio magazine
   (hosted this week by Greg Gordon and produced with Lucia Chappelle)
      Exposing the Sordid Lives of Southern Baptist Sissy Del Shores;
 Felicity is Spirited as Oscar honors Brokeback's director, words & music;
   The mayor's threat to "quash" Moscow Pride outrages activists across
   Europe, Anglican eyes aren't smiling on 2 California Episcopal bishop
 nominees, Hanoi's Light House shines a beacon of hope, U.S. Presbyterians
   acquit a lesbian minister of marriage misconduct, and more global news

* In "NewsWrap": Demonstrations outside Russian embassies in several European
cities protest Moscow's Pride ban... California Episcopalians could rock the
already reeling Anglican Communion boat with the appointment of an
openly-queer bishop, while the Anglican hierarchy in the central African nation of
Malawi, despite local parishioners' strong support, refuses to consecrate
gay-supportive British vicar Nicholas Henderson as its new bishop... Hanoi's Hai Dang,
or Light House, may be the first queer organization to go public in Vietnam...
same gender union statistics make news in Spain, Scotland, and England and
Wales... openly-lesbian minister Rev. Jane Spahr is acquitted of violating
Presbyterian Church (USA) policy for marrying two lesbian couples... Utah's lone
openly-gay lawmaker SCOTT McCOY eloquently espouses the *real* "Gay Agenda" on
the floor of the state Senate [includes his succinct statement]... and other
GLBT news from around the world (written this week by LUCIA CHAPPELLE and GREG
GORDON and reported by SHERI LUNN and CHARLS HALL).

* Although another notable socially significant film "Crash"ed what was
expected to be a "BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN" party for the Motion Picture Academy's Best
Film of 2005, the heart-wrenching gay love story did add 3 major OSCARS to its
herd of trophies at the 78th annual Hollywood ceremonies on March 5th. And
the night before that show watched 'round the world, "Brokeback Mountain" did
win the Best Feature prize at the INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARDS, as did Best
Director Ang Lee. And while she didn't win the top prize at the Oscars, FELICITY
HUFFMAN's "Transamerica" star-turn won her the Indy Spirit Award for Best Female
Lead (with a clip from her acceptance speech). "Brokeback Mountain" collected
Oscars the next night for Best Original Score composer GUSTAVO SANTAOLALLA
(with a clip from his thank you speech), Best Adapted Screenplay for Larry
McMurtry and DIANA OSANA (a clip from her comments), and Best Director for ANG LEE
(excerpts from his thank you remarks). In accepting his Best Supporting Actor
Oscar for another of the several politically-charged multiple-nominee films,
"Syriana," GEORGE CLOONEY couldn't resist commenting on conservative critics
who claim that Hollywood is out of touch with mainstream culture (with excerpts
from his comments, and all reported by GREG GORDON].

* The son of a Southern Baptist preacher, playwright DEL SHORES was married
for nine years and had two daughters before he finally came out as a gay man.
That difficult journey informs his work, which is both honest and hilarious.
His plays "Daddy's Dyin'... Who's Got The Will?" and "Sordid Lives" were made
into successful movies, and the film version of "SOUTHERN BAPTST SISSIES"
starts shooting in just a few months. But even if you've never seen any of his
plays or films, you've still probably encountered his work as a writer on such
TV shows as "Queer As Folk," "Dharma & Greg," "Ned and Stacey," and even
"Touched By An Angel". This Way Out's STEVE PRIDE sat down with the prolific Shores
for a discussion about life, love, Southern Baptists, and sissies (with
premier outro music from "Stained Glass Window" by LEVI KREIS, set to be a
significant part of the "Southern Baptist Sissies" soundtrack) [www.DelShores.net;
