The ALT Q Festival is a celebration of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered experience through music and performance.Conceived by Scott Free for the Old Town School of Folk Music, a portion of the proceeds of this event will be given to the AIDS Foundation of Chicago.

<br>

Featuring an evening of five musical acts, ALT Q's mission is to raise awareness of out performers among the general public and the LGBT community. A meet-the-artists wine reception will follow the event.

<br>ZRAZY

<br>

Irish vocalist Maria Walsh and UK saxophonist/pianist Carole Nelson, formed Zrazy in 1992, winning the Hot Press Irish Music Critics Award for Best New Band the following year. Their first two CDs, Give it All Up and Permanent Happiness, integrated Celtic lyricism, poetic sensibility and traditional instruments with funky loops and techno grooves. Their third album Private Wars (1999)was recorded in Ireland with their jazz quintet and released on their own ALFI label. Dream On is Zrazy's latest release, also recorded in Ireland and mixed in Nashville by Michael Moryc and guitar supremo Denny Jiosa.

<br>CHRIS GARNEAU

<br>

After playing around Brooklyn for a while, singer/songwriter Chris Garneau was signed to Absolutely Kosher in the spring of 2006, after a recommendation from Jamie Stewart, whose band, Xiu Xiu, was on the label. A piano player since age five, Garneau released his debut, Music for Tourists, a slow, sad collection of sparsely arranged songs that set off the singer's falsetto and was produced by Duncan Sheik, in January 2007.

<br>NATALIA ZUKERMAN

<br>

<br>Natalia Zukerman has a sound that's strong yet delicate, gentle yet insistent. You can call the music she makes folk if you want, but there's jazz in it too, and blues, and a soulful something or other that you can't quite put into words. The daughter of violinist/conductor Pinchas Zukerman and flutist/writer Eugenia Zukerman, Natalia grew up in Manhattan immersed in classical music. Her debut recording, 'Mortal Child' (2001),

provided an early glimpse at her talents. Her second album, On a Clear Day (2003), showcased her evolution as a guitarist, while her third album, 'Only One', incorporated a very different approach, recording the songs as written: for guitar, Dobro, and voice. When she's not playing music, Zukerman can be found painting bigger-than-life murals commissioned for public or private spaces. Onstage, however, is where she's most at home.

Actor Slash Model is the brainchild of Simon Strikeback and Madsen Minax. Separately, they are an activist, a writer, a filmmaker, an editor, a designer, a kinkster, a performer, a painter, a producer, a bookkeeper, a boy, a boi, and a technical geek. Together, they are Actor Slash Model, a homo queer indie pop clowny bluegrass extravaganza based in Chicago. Though their motivations are sometimes complex, when it comes down to it, they aim to please the ear, settle or roust the body, and of course, entertain themselves.
