Chronicling a blogger's big break from Middle America to Manhattan;
Faith complicates rights Down Under;
Hate holds sway in Michigan and North Carolina;
Germany's upper house defies Merkel on marriage, civil unions advance
in Italy and Greece, Colombian trans-people win identity rights, Pride
marches in Nicosia, Tel Aviv and Sao Paulo, and more LGBT news!

- In "NewsWrap": Germany’s upper house of parliament defies Chancellor Angela Merkel by passing a marriage and adoptions equality resolution, while civil unions bills for same-gender couples advance in Italy and Greece… an Arkansas judge upholds the validity of the marriages of some 500 gay & lesbian couples who wed before a federal court ruling overturning the state’s ban was appealed… Colombia no longer requires trans people to undergo invasive medical exams before changing their gender on official documents… Pride parades in Nicosia - without disruption this year - and in Tel Aviv and Sao Paulo… and more LGBT news from around the world (produced by STEVE PRIDE, written by GREG GORDON, and reported this week by MICHAEL LEBEAU and CAROLE MEYERS).

- When the most controversial public intellectual in the U.S. took his revolutionary Christian message Down Under this week, DR. CORNEL WEST's response to an audience member's question on AUSTRALIAN TV's "Q&A" got to the heart of the conflict between queer rights and faith rights (briefly intro'd by the "Q&A" opening theme music).

- MSNBC anchor RACHEL MADDOW may have had a little too much fun on her June 10th program reporting on televangelist Franklin Graham's sanctimonious snafu. But it all got sadly serious the following evening when she reviewed new laws in MICHIGAN and NORTH CAROLINA that allow religious belief to trump human rights (with brief comments by the Democratic leader of the North Carolina House LARRY HALL).

- Our entertainment correspondent STEVE PRIDE of the (818) has the 411 on a memoir by blogger "Kenneth in the (212)" (KENNETH M. WALSH) called "WASN'T TOMORROW WONDERFUL?" (with intro music from "New York State of Mind" by BILLY JOEL).
