Marriage equality mushrooms in the United States;
Artists and fans activate for the "RightOutTV" Music & Video Awards;
Estonia engages gender-free civil unions, Kyrgyzstan considers a
Russian-style "no promo homo" law, a Kenyan trans-activist wins her
landmark identity fight, opponents torch Cape Town's LGBT-welcoming
Open Mosque, U.S. Catholic University sours on "Milk", and more news

-
In "NewsWrap": The U.S. Supreme Court's October 6th decision opens
civil marriage to same-gender couples in almost a dozen new states, and
the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals the following day adds five more
to that burgeoning list, while a civil unions proposal for same-gender
couples squeaks by Estonia's Parliament… a pending law banning "gay
propaganda" in Kyrgyzstan is even worse than its Russian counterpart…
Cape Town, South Africa's LGBT-welcoming Open Mosque is firebombed…
Kenyan transgender activist Audrey Mbugua wins a landmark legal battle,
but 11 girls in a Kenyan private school are suspended for "lesbianism”…
the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. cancels a
previously-approved screening of the Oscar-winning biopic "Milk"
because, among other concerns, rainbow flags on flyers promoting the
event were too big… and more LGBT news from around the world (produced
by STEVE PRIDE, written by GREG GORDON and reported this week by MICHAEL
 ALLAN and SARAH SWEENEY).

- RightOutTV provides openly LGBTI
artists with an audio-visual vehicle to help bring their work to the
international community, and honors them each year with the RightOutTV
Music & Video Awards. The event is produced by MARLEE WALLCHUK
& TULLY CALLENDER, who also make music together as Sugarbeach. The
duo chats with LEN ROGERS of The Stonewall Society for this exclusive
preview (with brief instrumental intro music from "Celebration" by KOOL
& THE GANG).

-
Thanks to the U.S. SUPREME COURT and the NINTH U.S. CIRCUIT COURT OF
APPEALS, the U.S. has gone in the last 7 days from 19 to almost 35
states (and the District of Columbia) with full marriage equality.
MSNBC's RACHEL MADDOW provides analysis, The American Family
Association's BRYAN FISCHER "drops in", COMEDY CENTRAL's ersatz
conservative political pundit STEPHEN COLBERT laments equality (with a
double cameo by Republican U.S. House Speaker JOHN BOEHNER), and WHOOPI
GOLDBERG offers advice for "holier than thou" folks on ABC-TV's "THE
VIEW" (with intro music from "Wouldn't It Be Nice" by the BEACH BOYS
& outro music from "Chapel of Love" by the DIXIE CUPS).
