(hosted by Greg Gordon and produced with Lucia Chappelle)
Hip-hop's Angel Haze shares the "Same Love";
Television celebrates a "Modern" marriage;
Commentator Janet Mason loves the literature of love;
Brunei's deadly penal code gets the Sultan's blessing, Japan's First
Lady floats a message of Pride, Russian repression enters Crimea,
Uganda targets "homo-promoting" NGO's, and more global LGBT news

-
 In "NewsWrap": Death by stoning for consensual adult gay sex is
celebrated in the tiny Southeast Asian nation of Brunei by the
omnipotent Sultan Hassnal Bokiah, while protests at and boycotts of
Brunei-owned high-end hotel properties begin in the U.S. and Europe…
Japan's First Lady Akie Abe rides atop a float with a
colorfully-bedecked drag queen at Tokyo's LGBT Pride Parade, while about
 300 rainbow flag-waving Russian LGBT people and their supporters
participate without incident at the St. Petersburg May Day march… the
so-called "no promo homo" law comes to Crimea following its annexation
by Russia… a draft bill in Uganda would add to the draconian
"Anti-Homosexuality Law" by banning NGOs from providing monetary or
other assistance to LGBT people in the east African nation because that
would be "promoting homosexuality”… Northern Ireland lawmakers reject a
proposal to discuss marriage equality, but the United Church of Christ
sues the U.S. state of North Carolina for its law banning ministers from
 officiating the marriages of same-gender couples [with comments by UCC
General Minister and President GEOFFREY A. BLACK]… and more LGBT news
from around the world (produced by STEVE PRIDE, written by GREG GORDON,
and reported this week by CAROLE MEYERS and RICK WATTS).

- Is it
real or is it "MODERN FAMILY"? As the TV sitcom closes its 5th season,
gay couple "Mitchell" and "Cameron" will be tying the knot. Actors JESSE
 TYLER FERGUSON and ERIC STONESTREET discussed the big event -- which
they compared favorably to Ferguson's own actual wedding -- on ABC-TV’s
"JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE!”.

- "This Way Out" commentator JANET MASON
loves the literature of love, and takes a fresh look at an old tale by
Oscar Wilde in "THE WILDE PASSIONS OF DORIAN GRAY", a novel by Mitzi
Szereto, and at the happy endings of gay love in "FOOLISH HEARTS", an
anthology of short stories edited by Timothy J. Lambert and R. D.
Cochrane -- both from Cleis Press.

-
 Homophobia may not make hip-hop headlines, but the stigma against LGBT
artists remains strong. Rapper ANGEL HAZE courageously addresses the
issue in a freestyle track over Macklemore and Ryan Lewis'
Grammy-winning "SAME LOVE".
