"Test" brings the AIDS dance to the big screen;
Christian conniptions and kudos conflict over LGBT rites;
Appealing wins advance U.S. marriage equality, Mexican Supremes okay
one Baja, California gay couple's wedding, U.S. citizens believe that
ENDA already exists, a South Carolina town saves its lesbian police
chief, and more LGBT news

-
In "NewsWrap": In a case involving Utah's ban on civil marriage for
same-gender couples, the 10th U.S. Circuit of Appeals becomes the first
appeals court since last year's Supreme Court DOMA ruling to affirm a
district court decision striking down a state's constitutional ban on
civil marriage for same-gender couples as federally unconstitutional
[with a brief comment by titular plaintiff DEREK KITCHEN], while
Boulder, Colorado County Clerk HILLARY HALL, citing the 10th Circuit
ruling that also affects her state, starts handing out marriage licenses
to lesbian and gay couples [with her brief comment about why she's
doing it]… a federal district court overturns Indiana's marriage ban,
and with no immediate stay, hundreds of couples reportedly exchange vows
before an appeals court stops them… Mexico's Supreme Court grants a
civil marriage license to a gay couple from Baja California – but the
ruling only affects that couple… according to a YouGov/Huffington Post
poll, 69% of the U.S. population falsely believes that federal law
protects LGBT people from workplace discrimination, while  the
"nightmare that will not stop" for "unprotected" openly lesbian LATTA,
SOUTH CAROLINA POLICE CHIEF CRYSTAL MOORE appears to finally be over
[with comments by Moore and Latta MAYOR ED BULLARD]… and more LGBT news
(produced by STEVE PRIDE, written by GREG GORDON, and reported this week
by MICHELLE-MARIE GILKESON & WENZEL JONES).

- The spirit of
inclusion is sweeping much of mainstream Christianity, but the die-hard
dogma defenders still believe that godliness and LGBT liberation are
mutually exclusive. Some even have apocalyptic delusions about the
progress of civil rights for sexual minorities. The American Family
Association’s BRYAN FISCHER discusses one such fantasy being brought to
the silver screen by former U.S. Senator and 2012 presidential candidate
RICK SANTORUM. But there's Good News coming from other corners of
Christendom: REVEREND DR. CAMERON PARTRIDGE delivered the first sermon
by an openly transgender priest at the Episcopal-run National Cathedral
in Washington, D.C. at the iconic venue's annual Pride celebration; and
in another breakthrough for evolution, REVEREND FRANK SCHAEFER of the
United Methodist Church was reinstated by an appeals committee this
week. Schaefer had been defrocked for officiating at his own son's
same-gender wedding. Traditionalist homophobes beware! (with intro music
from "My Little Corner of the World" by ANITA BRYANT and outro music
from "God Is Wide" by DAVE HALL).

- "This Way Out's"
entertainment correspondent says a new movie set in a San Francisco
dance troupe in the onerous 80s passes the STEVE PRIDE "TEST" (with an
audio clip and comments by writer/director CHRIS MASON JOHNSON and brief
 outro music by BRONSKI BEAT.
