(hosted by Greg Gordon and produced with Lucia Chappelle)
An unlikely friendship fights fear and fosters forgiveness;
Canadian artist Steven Walker is memorialized in a "Rainbow Minute";
There are more moderating words from the newly minted Pope, the U.S.
Labor Department pushes same-gender spousal benefits but Oklahoma is not O.K. with National Guard benefits, a Russian YouTube video claims gays and
lesbians adopt children so they can rape them, and more news

-
 In "NewsWrap": Pope Francis shakes up Roman Catholics opining during a
lengthy interview that the Church has been overly "obsessed" with
abortion, contraception and marriage equality, while an Italian
Parliament kiss-in heralds passage of a bill to add sexual orientation
and gender identity to the country's hate crime laws… the U.S.
Department of Labor makes a post-DOMA announcement that same-gender
couples are now eligible to participate with their spouses in private
employer-provided health care and pension benefits plans organized under
 federal law… Oklahoma joins Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana to defy a
post-DOMA Pentagon directive to enroll same-gender couples in National
Guard benefits programs… Russia agrees in its generic version of the
UN's traditional Olympics Truce that it won't discriminate, but refuses
to be more specific, while a new Russian YouTube video warns that gays
and lesbians want to adopt children so they can rape them and "satisfy
their sexual desires"… and more LGBT news from around the world (written
 by GREG GORDON, produced this week by ANGELA BROOKS and STEVE PRIDE,
and reported by MICHAEL LEBEAU and PAMELA BROOKS).

- Gone too
soon "CANADIAN ARTIST STEVEN WALKER" is remembered in a "RAINBOW MINUTE"
 (produced by JUDD PROCTOR & BRIAN BURNS at WRIR-FM in Richmond,
Virginia and read by HEIDE TREPANIZER).

- Hate. Where does it
come from? What goes on in the mind of a hate criminal? The documentary
short "FACING FEAR" asks those questions -- and our STEVE PRIDE talked
with MATTHEW BOGER and TIM ZAAL, the two men featured in the film, about
 the answers they found for themselves (with intro music from "Carefully
 Taught" performed by IAN MATTHEWS, and outro music from "Forgiveness"
performed by MATTHEW WEST).
