(hosted by Greg Gordon and produced with Lucia Chappelle)
A Beat poet mystery is dramatized in "Kill Your Darlings";
A "Rainbow Minute" profiles a not-so-closeted British king;
The U.S. Senate and Defense Secretary each push for workplace fairness;
Taiwan takes a look at marriage equality, the Vatican vets social
questions in a global survey, the IOC snubs Russian LGBT activists,
an ex-Defense Secretary may open Gates to the BSA, and more LGBT news

-
 In "NewsWrap": A marriage equality bill is introduced in Taiwan's
legislature while hundreds demonstrate for marriage rights in Hanoi, but
 a marriage equality proposal fails for the second time in the
Australian state of Tasmania… the Vatican distributes an unprecedented
worldwide survey asking for input from local Roman Catholic parishes
about such contentious social issues as abortion, divorce, and marriage
equality… Thomas Bach, the new head of the International Olympic
Committee, refuses to meet with LGBT advocates during his visit to the
Russian site of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, while discredited
homophobic American psychologist Paul Cameron gives "expert" testimony
before the Russian parliament claiming that one in 3 gay men has sex
with children or wants to… former U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates,
who oversaw the dismantling of Don't Ask Don't Tell, is tapped to lead
the soon-to-be partially-gay-welcoming Boy Scouts of America [intro'd
and outro'd by brief snippets of "Be Prepared" by TOM LEHRER]…and more
LGBT news from around the world (written by GREG GORDON, produced this
week by WENZEL JONES & STEVE PRIDE, and reported by CHRISTOPHER GAAL
 & MICHELLE-MARIE GILKESON).

- There were big announcements
from the U.S. Senate and from the Pentagon this week affecting different
 kinds of workplace equality. SENATE MAJORITY LEADER HARRY REID
discussed his plans for ENDA, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act,
during an exclusive interview on October 30th with MSNBC's Rachel
Maddow.

- U.S. DEFENSE
 SECRETARY CHUCK HAGEL laid down the post-DOMA law to several
Republican-led states regarding partnered lesbian and gay members of the
 NATIONAL GUARD during his keynote speech at the Anti-Defamation
League's Centennial Dinner in New York on October 31st.

-
BRITAIN's ostensibly gay "KING JAMES I AND HIS FAVORITE" is profiled in
this "RAINBOW MINUTE" (produced by JUDD PROCTOR and BRIAN BURNS at
WRIR-FM in Richmond, Virginia and read by PHIL POLLARD).

-
Another movie about the Beat Generation? What's left to say? According
to This Way Out's STEVE PRIDE, "KILL YOUR DARLINGS", from
director/co-writer JOHN KROKIDAS and co-writer AUSTIN BUNN, surpasses
other dramatic films about Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, and William S.
Burroughs by pushing back the legend enough to consider them as people
and to tell a story of both artistic awakening and a 1944 murder (with
comments by Krokidas and Bunn, a clip from the film featuring MICHAEL C.
 HALL as David Kammerer, DANIEL RADCLIFFE as Allen Ginsberg and DANE
DeHAAN as Lucien Carr).
