(hosted by Greg Gordon and produced with Lucia Chappelle)
The Russian Olympics controversy burns brighter;
Art imitates life with "Archie";
Marriage equality gets the last word in an Aussie leadership debate;
A celebrity gay couple gets Uruguay's first same-gender marriage
license, a Pennsylvania county leaps to "the right side of history",
Pride blooms in Hanoi & Entebbe, and more LGBT news!

-
 In "NewsWrap": Uruguay begins offering marriage licenses to same-gender
 couples, while Pennsylvania's Montgomery County defies the U.S. state's
 heterosexuals-only marriage law… LGBT Pride celebrates its second
birthday in both Hanoi and Entebbe… a "no promo homo" law is proposed
and then quickly withdrawn in Armenia, while Lithuanian officials reject
 holding a referendum on such a law there… Pride in Stockholm puts out
the welcome mat for beleaguered celebrants from Russia, while more than a
 half-million watch Amsterdam float its condemnation of Putin and
support for a homophobia-free sports world, a pair of Canadian Olympians
 march in support of diversity at the 35th annual Pride parade in
Vancouver, British Columbia… and more LGBT news from around the world
(written by GREG GORDON, produced by STEVE PRIDE, and reported this week
 by JOHNNIE TORRES and SARAH SWEENEY).

- Anyone who was still
awake by the end of this week's lackluster first leaders debate of
AUSTRALIA's federal election campaign got a juicy tidbit on marriage
equality: OPPOSITION LEADER TONY ABBOTT gave his lesbian sister a
shout-out but not a break, while PRIME MINISTER KEVIN RUDD vowed to
deliver.

- Human rights activists and government leaders around
the world are engaging in the discussion about how to respond to
RUSSIA's crackdown on sexual minorities as the 2014 WINTER OLYMPICS in
SOCHI approaches. MSNBC's Rachel Maddow has been closely following the
developments, and asked Georgetown University professor of international
 affairs and government CHARLES KING to analyze the global impact of the
 controversy. U.S. PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA expressed his concerns this
week on NBC-TV's "Tonight Show with Jay Leno", and at a subsequent press
 conference rejected calls for an Olympic boycott.

-
 The latest "ARCHIE COMICS" release features its first gay character
"KEVIN KELLER" getting his first gay kiss – even though his very
existence continues to horrify comic book homophobes. That chapter of
Kevin's life was no doubt already in the works when "This Way Out" media
 correspondent STEVE PRIDE tracked down his proud papa DAN PARENT at
Comic-Con 2013 in SAN DIEGO.
