- In "NewsWrap": A marriage equality bill is introduced in the New Zealand Parliament but has a long and winding road ahead, while Scotland's government announces that it will sponsor a marriage equality measure in Parliament later this year... Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos and his wife MacKenzie make history with their 2.5 million-dollar donation to the coalition fighting to preserve the marriage equality law in the state of Washington in the face of a November ballot initiative to repeal it... the homophobic head of the Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A restaurant chain – one of the largest in the U.S. – causes a furor by admitting that they're "guilty as charged" of donating millions of dollars to right-wing anti-gay causes... it turns posthumously "out" that America's first woman in space Sally Ride was also its first lesbian... and more LGBT news from around the world (written by GREG GORDON with thanks to REX WOCKNER, produced by STEVE PRIDE, and reported this week by WENZEL JONES & SARAH SWEENEY).
    
- "VITO" paints a touching portrait of proud New Yorker VITO RUSSO, an outspoken activist in the LGBT community's struggle for equal rights and battle against AIDS in the early years, but perhaps best known as a film historian for "The Celluloid Closet", in which he documented the portrayal of LGBT people over the years on the big screen. This new documentary about his life and times uses period footage, including film clips and the activist's own comments, to capture a vibrant era of gay culture. "Vito" debuted on HBO this week as part of the premium cable channel's Documentary Summer Series, and repeat showings are scheduled. Award-winning "This Way Out" entertainment reporter STEVE PRIDE chats with "Vito's" award-winning writer/director JEFFREY SCHWARZ about his film, how it came to be, and the man (with outro music from "Everything In Its Own Time" performed by the INDIGO GIRLS).
