Airs on more than 200 local stations around the world... or
Listen now via our free podcasts at www.thiswayout.org or on iTunes.
(hosted this week by Greg Gordon and produced with Lucia Chappelle)
A "cyber-preneur" dots the gays;
A Lakota lesbian lassos a seat in the Minnesota legislature;
U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon blasts African bias and brutality,
South African lesbian killers draw heavy sentences, marriage equality
advances in Washington and New Jersey, plus more global news;
and pioneering U.S. lesbians rise to power in a "Rainbow Minute"

- In "NewsWrap": U.N. Secretary General BAN KI-MOON urges African nations to respect the rights of sexual minorities [with a brief excerpt from his remarks at the recent African summit in Ethiopia]... it took 6 years for each of the 4 South African men convicted of brutally murdering "out" 19-year-old lesbian Zoliswa Nkonyana to be sentenced to 18 years in prison... Harlem preacher Joseph Tolton visits Uganda to speak out against the country's proposed "Kill The Gays" bill... with decisive approval in the Senate, Washington now seems destined to be the 7th U.S. state to open civil marriage to lesbian and gay couples – though opponents will seek repeal – while a New Jersey Assembly committee advances a marriage equality bill that seems almost sure to pass in the Democratically controlled legislature, but it's unclear if there are enough votes to override a promised veto by "magnanimous" Republican Governor Chris Christie... newly-engaged "out" U.S. Congressman Barney Frank of Massachusetts wants to debate thrice-married GOP presidential wannabe Newt Gingrich on who is the real "threat" to the "sanctity" of marriage... and more LGBT news from around the world (written by GREG GORDON, produced by STEVE PRIDE, and reported this week by ROBERT LEBLANC and NATALIE PEOPLES).

- Not even three weeks have passed since SUSAN ALLEN became the first openly lesbian American Indian to take a seat in a state legislature in the U.S., and she's already on the front lines in the battle to defeat MINNESOTA's proposed "Marriage Protection Amendment". Representative Allen talks about her road to St. Paul with "This Way Out" correspondent DIXIE TREICHEL [from their "Fresh Fruit" conversation on KFAI-FM in Minneapolis/St. Paul].

- "LESBIANS RISE TO POWER" in a "RAINBOW MINUTE" (produced by JUDD PROCTOR & BRIAN BURNS at WRIR-FM in Richmond, Virginia and read by ADAM EBBIN).

- Like the Old West, the wild, wild World Wide Web has seen a lot of twists and turns in its lightening-fast development – and yet another transformation is about to take place with the expansion of top level domains from the traditional "dot-com", "dot-org", and a handful of others. "This Way Out's" STEVE PRIDE talks to gay "cyber-preneur" SCOTT SEITZ, a man who's riding ahead of the next wave (with outro music from "Gay, Gay, Gay, Gay, Gay" (H.P. Mendoza) from the "Fruit Fly" movie soundtrack) [www.dotgay.com... for now].
