(hosted by Lucia Chappelle and produced with Greg Gordon)
The U.N. Human Rights Commissioner condemns anti-LGBT violence;
Moscow's gay mouthpiece creates a "Gay Inc" stink;
Worldwide demonstrations denounce homo- and trans-phobia, Roman
Catholic bishops stop blaming gays for clerical child abuse, a new
survey "Gallups" toward U.S. marriage equality, a string of self-
outings mark sports figures' personal bests, and more global LGBT news

- In "NewsWrap": The seventh annual International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia – best known by the acronym IDAHO – is observed in more than 70 countries around the world... a five-year study commissioned by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops absolves gay priests of causing its child abuse scandal... a new Gallup Poll reveals first-time majority support for marriage equality in the U.S., but Tennessee lawmakers who don't like Nashville's ordinance banning sexual orientation bias pass a bill to ban all cities and counties from enacting their own anti-discrimination laws, even those based on race, religion, or gender... CNN weekend anchor Don Lemon decides to live a more "Transparent" life, and several prominent figures in the U.S. sports world also come out, while former NBA star and current basketball TV analyst Charles Barkley calls any current player who claims to have never had a gay teammate "a stone-freakin' idiot" (written by GREG GORDON, produced by STEVE PRIDE, and reported this week by JENN MAHONEY and RICK WATTS).

- Gay RUSSIAN activist NIKOLAI ALEKSEEV is known for his strong opinions and sharp criticisms of LGBT movement politics. In the conclusion of his 4-part conversation with "This Way Out's" STEVE PRIDE, the MOSCOW-based attorney minces no words when it comes to the primary strategic divide in the fight for liberation (with thanks for production assistance to RICK WATTS).

– Although all of its member states are not in agreement, the United Nations is becoming a stronger and stronger voice in support of LGBT people. In a special message circulated to coincide with May 17th's IDAHO – the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia – UNITED NATIONS HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS NAVI PILLAY condemns violence based on sexual orientation and gender expression, and calls on all governments around the world to treat their citizens with compassionate equality.
