(hosted by Greg Gordon and produced with Lucia Chappelle)
Busted advocates and hardball politics in Zimbabwe;
U.S. activists agitate for ENDA and against "Don't Ask";
Malawi men's engagement party brings 14 years hard labor, Portugal's
president ratifies marriage equality, the banned Minsk Pride march is
mauled by police, Singapore activists and allies think "Pink",
the Episcopal Church has its first lesbian bishop, and more LGBT news

- In "NewsWrap": Tiwonge Chimbalanga and Steven Monjeza are convicted by a Malawi court of publicly celebrating their love and are sentenced to 14 years in prison at hard labor... Portugal's president reluctantly ratifies the parliament-passed marriage equality bill... riot police violently end an attempted Pride march in the Belarusian capital of Minsk, but thousands form an LGBT-supportive "human pink dot" in Singapore... Mary Glasspool becomes the first openly lesbian and second openly queer Bishop in the Episcopal Church... yet another anti-queer Republican "family values" U.S. Congressman – Indiana's Mark Souder – resigns after revelations that he'd had an extramarital affair with a female staffmember... and more LGBT news from around the world (written by GREG GORDON, and reported this week by BEN CARON and EVELYN ORTIZ).

- Expectations for action from President Barack Obama and Democrats in the U.S. Congress continue to fuel activists across the country in support of the EMPLOYMENT NON-DISCRIMINATION ACT and repeal of the military's "DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL" policy. Our recap of this week's developments includes comments by National Center for Lesbian Rights Executive Director KATE KENDALL and other staffmembers at an ENDA rally in SAN FRANCISCO.

- When police raided the headquarters of GAYS AND LESBIANS OF ZIMBABWE on May 21st and arrested two staffmembers, the difficult struggle we heard about last time on "This Way Out" got even harder. No one is sure how much information was included in the computers and documents that were seized under the search warrant for "dangerous drugs and pornography." GALZ representatives who are out of the country at various meetings are being warned not to return, as more arrests are expected. Wherever she is now, GALZ Programmes Manager for Gender FADZAI MUPARUTSA is certainly a potential target. She may not have expected such a dramatic turn of events when she spoke recently with VIOLET GONDA on her SW Radio Africa "Hotseat" program (the conclusion of their 2-part conversation, with thanks for production assistance to FRIEDA WERDEN).
