Acclaimed multimedia star Jade Esteban Estrada brings his widely  traveled 
solo musical comedy "ICONS: The  Lesbian and Gay History of the World, Vol. 
1" to San  Antonio’s Rose Theatre on March 4.

‘Icons’ tells  the story of the GLBT experience through the voices of 
Sappho, Michelangelo,  Oscar Wilde, Gertrude Stein, Sylvia Rivera and Ellen 
DeGeneres, all played by  Estrada, who also penned the play. It includes song, 
dance and humorous  monologues.

The show debuted at the 2002 Columbus National Gay and  Lesbian Theatre 
Festival and recently celebrated its 350th performance in  Pueblo, Colorado.

Estrada was born and raised  in San Antonio, Texas. He’s performed at the 
famed  Guadalupe Cultural Arts  Center and honed his craft in the  acting 
company Los Actores de San  Antonio. 
He was trained at the American Musical and  Dramatic Academy in New York 
and worked with such show business  luminaries such as Charo and Zoe Caldwell. 

Estrada’s television  appearances include Comedy Central's "The Graham 
Norton Effect" and PBS's "In  the Life." His dance music can be heard on the 
Golden Globe and Emmy award  winning police drama "The Shield" on the FX 
Network.

Estrada, whose known  for his one-man shows, also has written and performed 
‘It's Too Late...It's  Already in Me,’ "Trans World!" and ‘Icons’ Vol. 2 
and 3. His sister Celeste  Angela Estrada wrote another one of his shows, 
"Tortilla Heaven."

The  audience gave Estrada a standing ovation for his recent performance of 
"A  Lullaby for Ryan: The History of HIV/AIDS in America" at the Rose 
Theatre in December 2009. He will return  to the Rose to perform "Tortilla 
Heaven" on Thursday, April 22,  2010.

"Icons: The Lesbian and Gay  History of the World, Vol. 1" at 8:00 p.m. 
Thursday, March 4, 2010 at The Rose  Theatre located at 11838 Wurzbach Road at
