- In "NewsWrap": The five Kenyan men arrested last week for allegedly planning a "gay wedding" in Mtwapa are released without charge but urged to lay low as religiously-inspired mob violence against men and institutions perceived to be gay or gay-supportive escalates, while the prosecution in Malawi rests its case against two gay men charged with "gross indecency" for holding an engagement party last December in Blantyre... five Mexican states join the federal government's challenge in the country's Supreme Court of Mexico City's recently-passed marriage equality law... a South African man wins the 2nd annual "Mr. Gay World" pageant, held this year in Oslo, Norway, but the spotlight is on the eventual 4th place finisher, a gay man from China who was there despite his government's attempt to prevent an official entry... organizers in St. Petersburg, Russia's second-largest city, announce plans for a first-ever Pride parade, despite the repeated bans of and violence against similar events in Moscow... and more LGBT news from around the world (written by GREG GORDON, and reported this week by CHRISTOPHER DAVID TRENTHAM and JENN MAHONEY).

- The recent spotlight has been on UGANDA, but increased queer visibility has also led to increased violence against sexual minorities in several other AFRICAN countries in recent years. Radio Netherlands' JONATHAN GROUBERT (with transmittal thanks to ERIC BEAUCHEMIN) explores the situation with SCOTT LONG of Human Rights Watch and Namibia native and now-South African gay activist IAN SWARTZ (also includes comments by prominent evangelical Ugandan pastor MARTIN SSEMPA and openly gay Ugandan Unitarian Universalist minister KIYIMBA BROWN).
