Message-ID: <4966394C.2020203@erols.com> One of our diehard GET WET fans has posted several songs of us "live" in concert as separate videos on YouTube! Great video, so-so sound and overboard tempos but, hey, it was live when we still just an opening act and stiving sooooo hard. This show was at the glorious 2,000 seat RITZ (shown at the end of that great Tina Turner biopic whose title I no longer remember) where we were house favorites and gigged regularly. We were never captured better on film even though you can't hear the guitar player's vocals (or even his guitar, at times). Pity, since our complex harmonies were unique at the time. But the excitement is there, and so are the songs including my notorious bisexual confessional "Morton Street". Our lead singer Sherri Beachfront and I were well known as lovers at the time, and I wrote all our songs about us, so our shows were always an intense emotional experience for fans who knew us well. The Chicago Tribune praises Levi Kreis' portrayl of Jerry Lee Lewis one of the "Best Theatre Moments of 2008." Mr. Kreis just about punds a hole in the stage floor with his Converse high tops when he starts flailing away on the keyboard." - New York Times Chicago ?- Million Dollar Quartet is a new musical inspired by a famed 1956 recording session that brought together four of the most legendary figures in the history of music ? Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley ? directed by Eric Schaeffer and Floyd Mutrux. LEVI KREIS WILL BE RELEASING HIS NEW ALBUM "WHERE I BELONG" SOON! *********************************************** Also do not miss Levi's stop in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, February 21st 2009 at Broward Center Of The Performing Arts' Amaturo Theater. The performance is part of Art Explosion 2009 also featuring Lea Delaria. Showtime 730pm. www.browardcenter.org www.artexplosiononline.org Tix: 954-46 2-0222 Levi Kreis presented by RJO Artist Relations & Mgmt ********************************************** LEVI KREIS BIO - "This truly represents (Kreis) as an artist...coming home to the gospel roots." - Music Connection If Levi?s acclaimed sophomore release, ?The Gospel According To Levi?, took us through the complicated and painful past of a young man growing up under the grip of religious fundamentalism, then it must have been cleansing for Mr. Kreis because there is no trace of hardship here. ?Where I Belong? is the most positive, uplifting offering we?ve witnessed from this piano man. We depend on Levi?s pop sensibilities to write a contagious hook, but this time around, they simmer with southern soul that rings truer than any previous endeavor. Levi Kreis released his debut album ?One of the Ones? in 2005 following an appearance on NBC?s hit reality show The Apprentice with Donald Trump. Combined with an exclusive CD premiere on XM Radio, the world?s introduction to Levi began a firestorm of conversation. Songs from his debut CD have been featured on The Apprentice, Days Of Our Lives, and The Young And The Restless spawning national television appearances and radio rotation. His sophomore CD released in 2006, ?The Gospel According To Levi?, garnered more television and film placement and a music video for the single ?We?re Okay? which held the #1 position for nine weeks on MTV?s Logo network. With ne arly 300 appearances in 2006-07, Levi has shared the stage with Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Snoop Dog, Farrel, Collective Soul, and opened for Cyndi Lauper at Wrigley Field. Levi?s 1997 move to Los Angeles found him cast as ?Roger? in a National Tour of Rent where he unexpectedly discovered his love for acting. His natural musical talents complemented his budding on-screen abilities and he was cast as one of the musical leads in the award-winning independent film ?Don?t Let Go.? After completing a few short films, Levi was invited to work with Bill Paxton and Matthew McConaughey in Paxton?s directorial debut ?Frailty? where Levi played the emotional role of Adam Meiks. In fall of 2007, Levi took a break from touring to become the original cast member in a new hit musical called ?Million Dollar Quartet?, where he received astounding reviews for his portrayal of Jerry Lee Lewis, and went on to launch the official national debut at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago. 2008 provided a record-breaking run, and Levi?s performance received enthusiastic praise from The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Seattle Times, among others. ?Where I Belong? proves that Levi has come into his own with a sound nostalgic for his gospel roots and southern soul, and promises to be the most defined chapter in this young prolific singer/songwriters promising career. Message-ID: <8CB4B098D953BC9-16AC-17C8@webmail-da18.sysops.aol.com> Happy 2009! ?This Way Out? continues to survive because of the dozens upon dozens of donations we receive from good people like you: thank you!? A major cash shortfall put "This Way Out's" very existence in jeopardy late last year.? Due to the failure of our previous Internet licensor to pay over $8,200 in carriage fees -- nearly one third of our annual budget -- meeting our most basic production and distribution expenses became a serious challenge.? Thanks to your support, however ? almost double the amount of donations we received in 2007 ? we?ll be able to pay those costs, at least for the next several weeks, for which we are sincerely grateful.? We also acknowledge, with deep appreciation, the support we received during 2008 from the Kicking Assets Fund of the Tides Foundation; the Gay Chemists Support Fund of the Horizons Foundation; the Brisbane Pride Festival; the Rainbow Amateur Radio Association; and voluntary program acquisition payments from affiliate stations WPKN/Bridgeport, CT; KUR/Kutztown, PA; KPFT/Houston, TX; KMUD/Redway, CA; KALW/San Francisco, CA; WRIR/Richmond, VA; WDFH/Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.; KMUN/Astoria, OR; KUGS/Bellingham, WA; and CKUW/Winnipeg, Manitoba. We still have debt of more than $2,000 that we're not sure when or how we'll be able to pay off.? We're counting on renewed foundation funding to come in during the next few months just to help keep us going -- so we still need your help!?? Please make your contribution using one of the Pay Pal links at www.thiswayout.org.? If you need something tangible in return, ask for one or more of the special thank you gifts described there -- including the 2008 versions of our annual "Audiofile Year in Review" and "Pride On Screen". Remember, you can listen to "This Way Out" via our free podcasts by clicking on the button in the upper right hand corner at www.thiswayout.org.? You'll hear a one-of-a-kind community radio show for and about sexual minorities around the world, produced with a dedicated group of unpaid volunteers.? Our ?NewsWrap? segment offers radio?s only weekly international LGBT newscast, and "This Way Out" program features -- just in the past year ? have included conversations with award-winning playwright Tony Kushner, drag diva RuPaul, and trans-artists S. Bear Bergman and Tobias K. Davis.? We also heard from Two-Spirit leader Richard La Fortune, author/actor/youth advocate James Lecesne, feminist law professor Nancy Polikoff, Jamaican activist Gareth Henry and Stop Murder Music leader Akim Larcher, retiring gay New Zealand M.P. Tim Barnett, notoriously ?out? and funny jazz singer Lea DeLaria, ?Running With Scissors? and ?A Wolf at the Table? novelist Augusten Burroughs, ?When You?re Fully Engulfed in Flames? humorist David Sedaris, "Don't Get Too Comfortable" gonzo journalist David Rakoff, and gay Muslim director and co-producer Parvez Sharma about his documentary ?A Jihad for Love.?? Some of the stars an d screenwriter Dustin Lance Bass and director Gus Van Sant of the landmark film ?Milk? discussed its making, creator Del Shores and star Jason Dottley celebrated their hilarious Logo TV series ?Sordid Lives,? and Darryl Stephens, the title character in the groundbreaking Logo TV series and follow-up movie ?Noah?s Arc: Jumping the Broom? talked about battling homophobia in the African-American community.? LGBTs join millions of people in the U.S., and around the world to celebrate the January 20th swearing-in of President Barack Obama, though mainstream media generally keeps their participation at the inaugural events invisible: the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington has an unidentified solo moment backing up the performance by Josh Groban and Heather Headley of "My Country 'Tis of Thee" [with brief audio] at the "We Are One" Concert at the Lincoln Memorial, and the Lesbian and Gay Band Association marches passed the smiling Obamas at the Inaugural Parade [with brief audio]... His appearance at the star-studded event at the Lincoln Memorial was taken as a symbol of the new president's promise of full inclusion for the LGBT community.?
