Since the demise of Blythe House Quarterly, we've really needed a place for gay writers to speak up, fact, fiction and opinion and this new Wilde Oats Magazine looks really promising. The Editor in Chief told me they are really into expanding the spectrum of their coverage way beyond fiction into reviews, criticism and editorials, and, if you get in on the ground floor, you will help define the mag from the beginning. Redefining modern music and bringing his own elements of Euro-dance to the clubs worldwide, Naommon's brand new album "Love is Struggling" is a dance essay on what it means to "scratch the glitter." This new album is one strict neo-discopop collection of songs that will make heads turn. "Love Is Struggling" officially releases on Tuesday, March 3rd 2009 on CD Baby, iTunes and many more digital outlets. Last year treated Naommon very well. His debut album "Allnighter" was critically praised in outlets nationwide including HX, PlanetOut, ArjanWrites and Queerty.com. His music videos for singles "Allnighter" and "You Go To My Head" made a huge splash on LOGO, HBO Zone, Promo Only, Rock America, Screenplay and more. Naommon's fans also voted him in as the #1 Artist on The Click List, which is the Top 10 Video Countdown show on MTV Networks' Logo Channel. Watch for the for the new video single for the title track "Love Is Struggling" being released soon. A child of the Eighties, teen of the Nineties, clubber of the 2000s, Naommon embodies - both musically and physically - a myriad of continually morphing influences from the spaceglam of Bowie, sophistication of Daft Punk, acidfunk of Deee-Lite and Dietrich's rigorous sense of glamour, to London's creative parties Paris's romantic dandysm and New York's popping scene. This only begins to describe Naommon's presence and live stage shows. It was Naommon's appearance on the French talent TV show, "Popstars" (similar to MTV's "Making The Band"), that sparked collaborations with hot electro producers Kiko resulting in several hot singles on International Deejay Gigolo Records including the european club classic "Jack The Box (Come On Up And See Me Sometimes)". Clubbing brought further introductions with Copyshop producers Arnaud Pilard and Fred Berthet , who co-produced the tracks on "Love Is Struggling". Naommon fans include UK producer Mark Moore (S-Xpress), Scissor Sisters DJ Sammy Jo, Queen of Electro-Soul Billie Ray Martin, Peter Rauhofer, Electro Cat Larry Tee, The Ones, and the brilliant Princess Julia. He is that kind of artist - ever struggling within eternal, pulsar-like oscillations... between the Dionysian temptations of creating sex and the studied, Appolonian thoughtfulness of creating poetry about sex. Koh lives and writes in that space created by the tug between the two. EQUAL TO THE EARTH is one of his results." - ru "I clean the common bathroom not cleaned for weeks, but the grinning toilet bowl is a loser's trophy. I'm craving dully for the next hit, the bang of sex or the wham of sounds transposing into an image. In the interval between sex and poetry lies death. The freshman intuits that. Which is why he begs for the gloved fist to enter him again and again." - Jee Leong Koh Jee Leong Koh appeared at Urban Productions' recent poetry event at Pisces Cafe, L.I. celebrating National Coming Out Day. [New York, NY ? Tuesday, February 10th 2009] Inspiration, healing, acceptance and confidence are four words that fit perfectly when discussing LEVI KREIS. On Tuesday, May 5th, 2009 these words come full circle with this singer-songwriter as he celebrates his incredible journey and so called ?cleansing? with the release of his third studio album ?Where I Belong.? This new collection of recordings is the most positive, uplifting offering witnessed from this piano man. Highlights include the first single/lead off track ?Gonna Be Alright?, the vulnerable ?Nothing At All?, live fan favorite ?Stained Glass Windows? which finally finds its place on a studio album, and ?This Girl? which will cause core fans to go ?hmmm.? The result more than satisfies fans with Levi?s own pop sensibilities and contagious hooks, but this time they simmer with southern soul that rings truer than any other previous project. Levi is not afraid and he is standing tall. "This truly represents (Kreis) as an artist...coming home to the gospel roots." ? Music Connection Magazine With this release, it is the perfect time for Levi to celebrate his incredible journey and accomplishments, led by his current role as Jerry Lee Lewis in ?The Million Dollar Quartet.? This casting took Levi off the road in 2007 after performing nearly 300 solo shows that previous year. A role so naturally perfect as this has lead to praises in the New York Times, The Seattle Times and recently being named ?One of the Best Theatre Moments Of 2008? by The Chicago Tribune. The show has already celebrated record-breaking sales in both Seattle and Chicago. Previous releases marked Levi?s place in the music industry, proving he can do it on his own terms. The 2006 release ?The Gospel According To Levi? took us through the complicated and painful past of a young gay man growing up under the grip of religious fundamentalism, which any listener who had ever felt like an outsider or oppressed related to. At this time, Levi released music video ?We?re Okay? which held the number 1 position for nine weeks on MTV Networks Logo Channel and was also featured on HBO Zone, Planet Out and more. Debut album ?One Of The Ones? in 2005 had music placements on The Apprentice with Donald Trump (following Levi?s own appearance on the show), Days Of Our Lives and The Young And The Restless. Other highlights in Levi?s career include being cast as Roger in the National Tour of ?RENT?and acting opposite of Matthew McConaughey in Bill Paxton?s ?Frailty.? Levi has also been heard of XM, Sirius and many other radio outlets and he has shared the stage with such greats as Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Pharrel, Collective Soul and opened for Cyndi Lauper at Wrigley Field. In the works for 2010 is a lead role for Levi in an already award winning indie film called ?Vega, TX.? New album ?Where I Belong? proves that Levi has come into his own with a sound nostalgic for his gospel roots and southern soul, and promises to be the most defined chapter in this young prolific singer/songwriters promising career. Levi?s website is www.levikreis.com. Levi is currently available for bookings and media interviews. Pre-mastered advanced copies are currently available. I really like this quote, "Let the beauty you love be what you do" - it brings to mind thoughts of gratitude and appreciation for life, in a beautiful state of joy that can only come from following your heart and soul. This is the playlist for Unashamed Faith Cafe for Sunday 02-15-09 Dan Manjovi - Love Handles Roger Mapes - Love Divine Danny Riddle - Forever Loved Bryan Hawn - I'm in Love Shawn Thomas - What am I Gonna Do With You Rizi Timane - There's Jesus Nick Granato - What Is Love Set Free - Wherever I Am Shawn Thomas - You Are Here Lord Robin Renee - The Other End of the Line Lara Landon - What You Gonna Call That Pretty Little Baby Marsha Stevens - Built On Hope Morry Campbell - Walking On Water Jesus said, "Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence.' New Zealand Prime Minister John Key boogies with drag queens at Auckland's 10th annual Big Gay Out... and more LGBT news from around the world (written by GREG GORDON, and reported this week by RICK WATTS and GREG GORDON). - LGBT Catholics and their liberal compatriots have had plenty of bad news in recent weeks, including Pope Benedict XVI's Christmas message comparing lesbigay equality and gender rights to environmental degradation, the pontiff revoking the excommunication of an illegitimately ordained bishop who denies that there was a Holocaust, and promoting a priest who proclaimed that Hurricane Katrina was divine retribution on LGBT-friendly New Orleans. Now the spotlight has fallen on the SOUTH BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA congregation of ST. MARY'S, where Archbishop John Bathersby has fired progressive parish priest Peter Kennedy. Among Father Kennedy's "sins" are allowing lay people -- including women -- to preach, and cultivating a community that openly welcomes lesbians and gays. "This Way Out" correspondent MARK JEFFERY (from "Queer Radio"/4ZZZ-FM/Brisbane, with transmittal thanks to JOHN FRAME) commiserated with St. Mary's Community Council Gay and Lesbian Representative VINCE KNAUTH (with intro/outro music from "Show Me" performed by CHRISTIAN ANDREASON). - Coming up with a brief but clever introduction for EDWARD ALBEE is no doubt a fool's errand. America's leading Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright provocateur, author of "The Zoo Story," "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf," and so many others, calls his plays "a stand against the fiction that everything in this slipping land of ours is peach y-keen." Albee had a delightful conversation about being gay ? not to mention art, life and death - with "This Way Out" correspondents DIXIE TREICHEL and JOHN TOWNSEND (from "Fresh Fruit" on KFAI-FM/Minneapolis-St. Paul). ******************************************************** "This Way Out" is a U.S. tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit under the corporate name of OVERNIGHT PRODUCTIONS (INC.). I am so excited to be releasing these songs at long last. Some have been in the process of getting recorded for 10 years. Some are even older. When Boys' Entrance was still the original 3 piece, before Fletcher passed away, we used to perform Metalurgy and Platinum Lover. That has been 13 or 14 years. A few of the songs here were recorded in my home studio. Tech problems ensued. In '07, my friend and sometime drummer in B.E., Timmy Samuel helped out by recording a few songs formally in his home studio. But we stopped work on the album, then to be called, "Tunnelvision" to do the "Flash '07" single. I ended up promoting that single all summer, then my Dad died in October, taking the piss out of my momentum. If I ever make it back into a studio, the "Tunnelvision" cd may yet be released. In the meantime, just in case I never make it back to a studio, I am releasing the songs on DEMOcrat Volume 1. The second volume is an all instrumental cd. I have been producing instrumentals for years. Each Boys' Entrance cd has had one or two. Well they have really stacked up, as you will see. Most of the instrumental come from some place unknown to me. It all started years ago at CV Lloyd's music store in Champaign, Il. I stood in front of a synth, put my fingers on the keys, and a very strange music poured out. It went on for 10 minutes, I suppose. A voice startled me by yelling, "Don't Stop!" I looked up and realized everyone was watching me. It was years later when I finally bought my synth, that it started again, resulting in many, many songs I don't recall performing. I guess I just sort of trance out. Many reviewers have said the music is "cinematic". You be the judge. Volume 3 is a group of cover tunes. Some are instrumentals, (so there is some cross over with Vol. 2) but most have vocals. This is also a work in progress. There's some Bowie, T Rex, Todd Rundgren, Peter Gabriel, Pansy Division, Aerosmith. Anyway, all told there are about 72 songs up at http://www.reverbnation.com/timcainboysentrancetalltrees Many are available as free downloads. Check 'em out. I hope you enjoy the work.
