I feel everybody on the disappointment with the anti-gay marriage stuff.  I don't feel like Obama/Biden really believe gays shouldn't have the right to marry.  I think they know that the election would/could have been lost over this issue.  The presidential election was really the most important to me.

This is a civil rights issue.  It's likely to go to court again and may have to and probably should go all the way to the supreme court. And when Obama choses new judges, I think we will see this turn around.  Supreme Court judges don't have to play politics. They won't feel the political wrath if they go with their conscience. So that's where the new administration can come through for gay civil rights.

I, personally, believe that marriage is, most importantly, a spiritual/emotional commitment. And they can't stop us from having that. What they can impose on us right now is a denial of civil rights.  But, that injustice can't/won't go on forever. What should happen, IMHO, is that, the civil recognition of marriage should be renamed for everybody.  That would completely separate church and state. Anyway...

This article might give folks some other stuff to think about:

i'm not a fan or supporter of Schwarzenegger. I would've liked to have heard
Obama and Biden say they supported the right of gays to marry, but in fact they
made a point of saying the opposite. It didn't stop me from wanting to vote for
them. But it adds to the bitterness around an otherwise sweet election.
