                  ========================================
                              THIS WAY OUT
              the international gay & lesbian radio magazine
                   Program #1,032, distributed 01/07/08
   (hosted this week by Greg Gordon and produced with Lucia Chappelle)
               The naked truth about "bare" the musical;
             Saluting the gay teen who stood up to bullying
      and a challenging psychology student in two "Rainbow Minutes";
   Nepal's top court orders equal rights, Hungary's Parliament passes
civil partnerships, the New Year brings civil unions to Uruguay and New
Hampshire, Sir Ian is honored as Queen's Companion, and more GLBT news

* In "NewsWrap": Nepal's Supreme Court orders the government to extend equal
rights and anti-bias protections to LGBTI people... Hungary's Parliament
passes a civil partnership law for same-gender couples and hetero couples who
choose not to marry, while Uruguay's President signs Latin America's first national
civil unions law for lesbigay couples... in the U.S., dozens of New Hampshire
couples celebrate their civil unions as that new law takes effect at midnight
on January 1st, but hundreds of same-gender couples in Oregon protest the
last-minute federal court-ordered delay of that state's domestic partnership law
that was to have taken effect on the same day... Tel Aviv becomes the latest
Israeli city to recognize same-gender couples, but Rome's City Council rejects
a domestic partnership registry... openly gay British actor and activist Sir
Ian McKellen joins a select few as the Queen names him a Companion of Honor...
and more GLBT news from around the world (written by GREG GORDON, and reported
this week by BRIDGETTE STRONG and LEIGH MOORE).

* "JAMIE NABOZNY STANDS UP!" salutes the gay Wisconsin student whose landmark
lawsuit challenged school bullying in a "RAINBOW MINUTE" (produced by JUDD
PROCTOR & BRIAN BURNS at WRIR-FM in Richmond, Virginia and read by JON KLEIN).

* That sardonic old cliche of "Catholic high school girls in trouble" gets a
gender switch and a tragic twist in the hit musical "bare." Composer DAMON
INTRABARTOLO and lyricist Jon Hartmere tell the story of the ill-fated romance
between two young Catholic schoolboys. "This Way Out" correspondents DIXIE
TREICHEL and JOHN TOWNSEND [from "Fresh Fruit" on KFAI-FM/Minneapolis-St. Paul]
talk with Intrabartolo about its genesis, the new CD/DVD release of the show,
and the special mission it's dedicated to (begins with the show's title song
"Bare" and ends with "Best Kept Secret," each performed by MATT DOYLE as Peter
and JAMES SNYDER as Jason).

* "SAMMY FROMM - INFAMOUS PSYCHOLOGY STUDENT" and friend of Dr. Evelyn Hooker
is remembered in a bonus "RAINBOW MINUTE" (read by DUSTIN RICHARDSON).
