"THIS WAY OUT: the international lesbian & gay radio magazine
Program #1,079 - distributed 12/1/08
Our "NewsWrap" crew took the week off to enjoy the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, but they'll be back next time with the latest developments in or affecting our global LGBT communities.
On this special program, the "Casualties" will be light when you "Step Right Up" to the "Sweet Life" – and we'll bring you some other words and music that'll inspire you along the way...

-  In October of 1968, the idea that religion had anything but condemnation to offer LGBT people was unthinkable.  Unthinkable, that is, to everyone except a gay former Pentecostal preacher named Troy Perry.  Perry founded METROPOLITAN COMMUNITY CHURCH in Los Angeles, and MCC has grown to include LGBT-positive congregations around the world.  When Perry retired as head of the denomination in 2005, the REV. ELDER NANCY WILSON was elected to replace him.  In her keynote address at MCC-LA's 40th anniversary celebration in October of this year, Wilson recounted highlights of the Church's history and pointed to the present and future challenges for its global ministry (produced by LUCIA CHAPPELLE, with intro music from "Don't Give Me That Old Time Religion" by REV. DELORES BERRY) [www.mccchurch.org].

- "TWO" Happy Holidays promo (voiced by CHRISTOPHER GAAL, with music from Tchaikovsky's holiday season perennial "March of the Toy Soldiers") [www.thiswayout.org].

- Special announcem
ent thanking the RAINBOW AMATEUR RADIO ASSOCIATION for its support [www.rara.org].

- We'll "STEP RIGHT UP" (excerpts from "Tykie's Coming Out" and "Hypnotized" from JEFF STRAKER's 2nd CD) to the "SWEET LIFE" ("Happy" and the title track from the 9th CD by CATIE CURTIS), and no "CASUALTIES" are expected ("Here to Stay" and "More Than This" from PHIL PUTNAM's 6th CD) on this upbeat edition of the "AUDIOFILE" (with comments by each artist, hosted by CHRIS WILSON & JD DOYLE and written and produced with CHRISTOPHER DAVID TRENTHAM) [www.audiofile.org].
