                    ========================================
                              THIS WAY OUT
              the international gay & lesbian radio magazine
                 Program #1,021, distributed 10/22/07
   (hosted this week by Greg Gordon and produced with Lucia Chappelle)
    Judge David Young brings a gay gavel to his new TV courtroom show;
   Another page turns in the Cheney family album, amusing Kate Clinton;
    Its top Muslim cleric urges island exile for Uganda's homosexuals,
   proposed Venezuelan constitutional reforms include lesbigay rights,
Rio Pride promotes hate crimes protections, marriage politics percolate
            in Sweden and Australia, and more global GLBT news

* In "NewsWrap": Uganda's leading Muslim cleric calls for all gay people to
be marooned on an island to "die out there" so that "we shall have no more
homosexuals in the country"... Venezuela's National Assembly approves the addition
of sexual orientation to human rights protections in a proposed amended
constitution, while more than 800,000 people celebrate Pride in Rio de Janeiro...
an unnamed Colombian gay man wins asylum in the U.S. based on his HIV status,
but Nicaraguan gay refugee Alvaro Orozco hopes for salvation from Canada's
Immigration Minister... Sweden's Parliament considers full marriage equality for
same-gender couples, while rights-resistant Australian P.M. John Howard calls
new elections for November 24th... and other GLBT news from around the world
(written by GREG GORDON, and reported this week by DON LUPO and JON BEAUPRE).

* LYNNE CHENEY, the wife of Vice President Dick Cheney and mother of lesbian
sometimes-political activist Mary Cheney, has come up with a quirky, salacious
little tidbit to draw attention to her new growing-up-in-Wyoming memoir.
Cheney made headlines this week with the news that her research for "Blue Skies,
No Fences" revealed an ancestral link between the vice president frequently
likened to Darth Vader, and the Democrats' would-be black Luke Skywalker,
Senator Barack Obama. That "family values" anecdote may be tantalizing the press
today, but we still recall an even quirkier, more salacious little tidbit from
the author's earlier work, 1981's "SISTERS," an excerpt from which is read by
CINDY FRIEDMAN...
                         = segues directly into =
* It's such brain-twisting contradictions that seem to emit from the Cheney
family that got lesbian-feminist humorist KATE CLINTON going in her 2004 album
"The Marrying Kind"... in particular Lynne's outrage at the alleged "outing"
of her already "out" daughter Mary [www.kateclinton.com].

* He's fun, he's fair, and he's fabulous! JUDGE DAVID YOUNG has made
history in the new U.S. TV season by becoming the first out gay man to have his own
daytime show. Our own STEVE PRIDE put Judge Young on the stand to learn more
about the man under the robes [www.judgedavidyoung.com].
