                   ========================================
                           The week of 01/30/06 on
                          T H I S    W A Y    O U T
             the international gay & lesbian radio magazine
   (hosted this week by Greg Gordon and produced with Lucia Chappelle)
  An Irish duo, a Canadian solo, and an L.A. balladeer in the "Audiofile";
          Lesbian love and laughter rain down in "April's Shower";
   Phony pedophilia charges block queer groups' quest for U.N. status,
Canadian Conservatives' electoral conquest has queers concerned, activists
   challenge bans on gay blood and sperm donors in South Africa and New
Zealand, U.S. Black clergy confront church homophobia, and more GLBT news

* In "NewsWrap": The U.S. joins Iran, Zimbabwe and Egypt (among others) to
deny United Nations Economic and Social Council consultative status to the
International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA) and a Danish queer
organization... Canada's Conservative Party, whose leader Stephen Harper has called for
repeal of last year's legislation that opened marriage to same gender couples,
ousts the equality-supportive but scandal-ridden Liberal Party administration of
P.M. Paul Martin; a controversy over the ban on blood donations by gay men
boils over in South Africa, while a Wellington man challenges the
Australian-established New Zealand ban on sperm donations by gay men... about 150
African-American religious leaders from across the country meet in Atlanta to address
what organizers say is widespread prejudice against lesbians and gay men within
historically Black churches... queers in the state of Washington win basic
anti-bias protections after a 30-year struggle... and more GLBT news from around
the world (written this week by JON BEAUPRE and GREG GORDON and reported by
JON BEAUPRE and SHERI LUNN).

* The new independent film "APRIL'S SHOWER" is a comedy about love, romance
and expectation. The story follows unpredictable twists and turns until it
climaxes with a madcap finale. At the beginning, the cast assembles for a
seemingly traditional wedding shower. As the story progresses, layers are slowly
pulled away revealing secret relationships and subversive undercurrents, and the
wedding shower quickly becomes a free for all. This Way Out's STEVE PRIDE
says the hilarity belies the poignancy of truth and love, and that the laughter
is punctuated with honesty, tenderness and pain. He has preview clips, and
talks with the film's writer, director and star TRISH DOOLAN
[www.PrideOnScreen.com].

* A jazzy Irish duo (excerpts from "Drive" and "Angel Walking" from ZRAZY's
"DREAM ON"), a Canadian icon's musical message (the title cut and "So Lucky"
from LUCIE BLUE TREMBLAY's "IT'S GOT TO BE ABOUT LOVE"), and a
Tennessee-to-California balladeer ("I Should Go" and "Lonely Sunday Morning" from LEVI KREIS'
"ONE OF THE ONES") fill this month's "AUDIOFILE" [with comments by the artists
about their music, hosted by CHRIS WILSON & JD DOYLE, and written and produced
with CHRISTOPHER DAVID TRENTHAM] [www.audiofile.org].
