[OutVoice] 2006 Outmusic Awards call for Submissions posted for Outmusic

The Board of Outmusic is proud to announce the 2006 Outmusic Awards celebrating excellence in GLBT recording, songwriting, and cultural activism.

Recordings (in any genre) released by GLBT artists in the 2005 calendar year are eligible in 15 diverse categories - including newly added categories for Outstanding Inspirational Recording, Music Video, and Album Design.  Nominees will be selected in a combination of judging by GLBT music industry pros and members' choice ballots.

The submission deadline is midnight Friday February 10, 2006.

Recipients will be announced live at the OMAs on Sunday afternoon June 11 at New York's Knitting Factory - Hosted by OMA-winning recording artists Alix Olson and Ari Gold and honoring groundbreaking composer and activist Tom Wilson Weinberg with the Outmusic Heritage Award.  Radio and concert producer Kathy Rieser will receive the OMA for Outstanding Support. And a special recognition award will be presented to the renowned DJ, recording artist, songwriter and producer Junior Vasquez. Nominees will perform live at the OMAs plus at several special concert events at various NYC venues June 8 - 11. Stay tuned for details!
