                   ========================================
                           The week of 11/14/05 on
                          T H I S    W A Y    O U T
   (hosted this week by Greg Gordon and produced with Lucia Chappelle)
"The Dying Gaul's" Tinseltown morality tale of lust, corruption & revenge;
                  It takes "Time" to talk to queer teens;
A lesbigay bias ban beefs up Britain's Equality Bill, Maine voters reject
  anti-discrimination law repeal, marriage inequality gets set in Texas
 stone, several queer candidates win and two 'phobes lose in off-year U.S.
elections, Brazilian gays lock lips over a non-kiss, more global GLBT news

* In "NewsWrap": Britain's queer-inclusive anti-discrimination Equality Bill
passes in the House of Lords, while a third effort by religious conservative
groups to repeal anti-discrimination protections in the U.S. state of Maine is
soundly defeated on election day, November 8th, but voters in Texas
overwhelmingly make it the 19th state to pass a constitutional amendment defining
marriage as exclusively heterosexual... notable "firsts" highlight the election of
openly-lesbigay candidates to local offices around the U.S., while two
notorious homophobes are defeated... Alito waits in the wings as queer cases are heard
by the U.S. Supreme Court... hundreds of Brazilian gays and lesbians angered
by the highly-hyped queer kiss on a popular TV soap opera nixed by the network
"show this country how gays can kiss"... and more GLBT news from around the
world (written this week by JON BEAUPRE, LUCIA CHAPPELLE, and GREG GORDON, and
reported by JON BEAUPRE and GREG GORDON).

* In a "Time" Magazine cover story in mid-October called "THE BATTLE OVER GAY
TEENS," writer JOHN CLOUD explored what coming out is like for queer kids at
the beginning of the 21st century. He reached some opinionated conclusions
about the next generation, and how adult GLBT communities are -- or are not --
caring for them. This Way Out correspondent KATHY SANCHEZ caught up with Cloud
recently to discuss some of his discoveries.

* Out gay playwright/screenwriter Craig Lucas ("Longtime Companion", "Prelude
To A Kiss") makes his directorial debut with "THE DYING GAUL", a
psychological thriller based on his play of the same name. Part "Sunset Boulevard", part
Greek tragedy, "The Dying Gaul" is a tale of lust, power, corruption, betrayal
and revenge set in the seductive world of the Hollywood elite. Starring
Campbell Scott ("Longtime Companion", "Roger Dodger"), Patricia Clarkson ("High
Art", "Far From Heaven") and Peter Sarsgaard ("Boys Don't Cry", "Kinsey"), This
Way Out's STEVE PRIDE [www.PrideOnScreen.com] says "The Dying Gaul" is a
unique, thought-provoking post-modern Hollywood noir -- unsettling, unpredictable
and morally explosive. He previews clips from the film and talks with
writer/director CRAIG LUCAS and actress PATRICIA CLARKSON.
