From len at stonewallsociety.com Tue Nov 8 13:26:26 2005 From: len at stonewallsociety.com (Len) Date: Tue, 8 Nov 2005 14:26:26 -0500 Subject: [OutVoice] New list configuration complete Message-ID: <004401c5e49a$4fc2f340$2202a8c0@stonewall> Greetings OutVoice list members, The new list is configured and should be operating without problem at this point. If the problems arise again on this list and server I will establish the OutVoice group at Yahoo to handle future list services. If that would be a preference to list members, let me know via direct email to me,(len_r at outvoice.net) not by reply to the list.. I avoided the Yahoo service for several reasons, privacy and registration issues being the main ones. However, your privacy can be protected there as well. And you could post photos and I can add a calendar for your dates. So if you feel the Yahoo approach is a good one, again email me and I will start that project. The major benefit to Yahoo Group service is that email sending limits would not be an issue as I understand the system. If we decide to go with Yahoo groups I will manually add all list members. All you will need to do here or at Yahoo would be edit your preferences. The list problems in the past were related to bounce issues and server limits on mail sends. As all servers now have established limits on sending email due to spam regulations, this may still be an issue. The current server has a cap of 200 emails per hour. So each time a post is sent we will fill that for that hour. For that reason I request: That you post once and not post duplicate information on the same day. That the outvoice at outvoice.net email address be in the "to" field. Place CC in the CC field. That you respond to individuals when appropriate rather than via the list. With regard to bounce issues. I have been adding AOL members back into the list manually for that last few months. I cannot guarantee that process in the future. So if you use an AOL address please be aware there probably will be issues. AOL bounces your posts and this creates an account closure for the list member. Manual management of this is very time consuming and tedious. I would suggest that you consider an optional email provider for list purposes. Hotmail and Yahoo are both free and should not create the same issues. To those who have been patient and or sent in your questions and support many thanks. You are deeply appreciated. However, some have been down right rude, hateful and inconsiderate. My reaction to that approach in the future will be a permanent ban from the list. I do this to support community, not to be bashed by inconsiderate persons with bad attitudes. I am not going to play the sympathy card here. Much has gone on in my life and business lately. Some of which was an influence in the problems. Such as server down time and complete loss of information. The personal side has been equally challenging over the last seven months. So again, thanks to those who have shown some support, patience and compassion over this time period. My apologies on the problems with the list. Please know that I will do whatever it takes to make the list functional and active. So please feel free to email at this address or len_r at outvoice.net with your feedback and or suggestions. I will be announcing a new feature for OutVoice artists and SWS promo members next week. This will be an exciting addition to the current services offered. We are no longer affiliated with Live365 for radio programming. Future programs and monthly chart shows will be available at www.rainbowworldradio.com. We will at this time be streaming the broadcasts. I am looking at various live alternatives. However, the streams at www.rainbowworldradio.com will be more time/listener friendly with a broader available listen time. We will continue the Pot Of Gold promotion on the new Rainbow World Radio website as well. As most interviews were pre-recorded there will be little difference as far as the listening experience. You will not have to deal with Live365 advertising or log out/block issues. You have always been equally supportive of the GLBT music scene and providing equal opportunity/open door to anyone wanting to be presented under your efforts. You didn't try to hand select WHO was worthy or not by your own opinion, even though this was YOUR FORUM...you just provided the platform that all GLBT artist in the NYC music scene and from out of town coming to NYC could be heard regardless of genre, style, band or tracked or a combination thereabouts. You have had multi pieced bands, acoustic and artists with tracks all equally welcomed. Because of your efforts, I have seen growth in several artist because of your support in providing them a safe place to perform and thus evolve. Artist going from track backing to multi piece bands, from using the multiple talents of fellow GLBT music artist that later formed and performed again because of your generous efforts. You have welcomed each of us...be it at different levels, abilities and evolution of our craft as singer/songwriters! Bravo to you Kris, Bravo to you! -Terry Christopher kmlandherr at aol.com wrote: Hey Kids Let me start off by saying thanks to all of you who showed up to our last Fagapalooza shows at Siberia last night. It means the world to me that you were there as we said farewell to my labor of love. If you weren't able to make it you missed out on some fine performances and what must have been the greatest audience I've seen at Fagapalooza. They fueled the artists as did the artists the audience. We witnessed a veritable symphony of musical symbiosis. As we wrap up Fagapalooza I feel I must finally say that if you've missed out on the opportunity to play a show with us we missed you as well. If you've missed out on the opportunity to see one of our shows we missed you too. I will be taking a break from producing music events for a while though we will still be doing our annual X-Mas fundraiser. Selfish as it is, the warm fuzzies I get from doing my charity events has been a gift I've given myself every year since we first started the series. Details coming soon. My next few months will be about rehearsing my band and finally getting the CD I've been threatening to release done once and for all. After that my focus will be gearing up as we take Fagapalooza on the road next summer. Once again I thank all of you who've supported Fagapalooza and the LandShark! Music Series all this time in spirit and/or performance. Your belief in me and the people who've helped me put the shows together through the years is very much appreciated. Mere words can never do justice to the joy you've brought me. I am especially greatful to my co-producer Troy Lambert and hostess Charmaigne. You'll be seeing more of them out in the performing circuit and encourage you to attend. You won't regret it. Anywho - I hate notes that go on as long as this so I will wrap it up with - Keep on fighting the good fight and making the world a gayer place one note at a time. Message-ID: <8DFF4146B634EF44898DF7C94DBCA6B00368E394@MAILMAN.sirius.corp> Hi there, folks. It's been a long time since I've posted to this list. I hope everyone is well. In case you haven't heard, I'm now doing several shows for OutQ, the LGBT station on Sirius Satellite Radio. I'm having an absolute blast. And, yes, there is a LOT of life after Billboard magazine! :) What I want to direct your attention to are my two weekend programs, "Feel The Spin," which are on Saturday and Sunday, 12noon Eastern/9am Pacific. This show is different from the other music shows on OutQ in that it two four-hour blocks of music and stories from one-man's point of view. There's no rubber-stamping involved. The playlist is quite simply, music that is turning me and my listeners on. The playlist has gay and gay-interest artists from all over the world. The intention is not to segregate, but rather to show how well someone like Mark Weigle hangs along side Tim McGraw, or how nicely Bodies Without Organs plays next to Madonna. It's a fun show that I do from the heart. So far, here are the queer artist staples of my show: Mark Weigle, Melissa Ferrick, Jen Foster, Jay-J, Alex Parks, Barton, Bodies Without Organs, Yolanda, Amy Ray, Ari Gold, K-Stuff, Kendall, Rufus Wainwright, Jeffrey Altergott, Brian Green, and Paul Manchin, among others. We have a decent library of music here at Sirius, but I'm intent on building my own with YOUR music. Do I have your most recent disc? Check in with me or please do pop one in the mail. Even if you think I do, I might not. Unfortunately, a lot of stuff got lost in the move from my old office to my new one. Looking forward to hearing from you. Take good care! Alito waits in the wings as queer cases are heard by the U.S. Supreme Court... hundreds of Brazilian gays and lesbians angered by the highly-hyped queer kiss on a popular TV soap opera nixed by the network "show this country how gays can kiss"... and more GLBT news from around the world (written this week by JON BEAUPRE, LUCIA CHAPPELLE, and GREG GORDON, and reported by JON BEAUPRE and GREG GORDON). * In a "Time" Magazine cover story in mid-October called "THE BATTLE OVER GAY TEENS," writer JOHN CLOUD explored what coming out is like for queer kids at the beginning of the 21st century. He reached some opinionated conclusions about the next generation, and how adult GLBT communities are -- or are not -- caring for them. This Way Out correspondent KATHY SANCHEZ caught up with Cloud recently to discuss some of his discoveries. * Out gay playwright/screenwriter Craig Lucas ("Longtime Companion", "Prelude To A Kiss") makes his directorial debut with "THE DYING GAUL", a psychological thriller based on his play of the same name. Part "Sunset Boulevard", part Greek tragedy, "The Dying Gaul" is a tale of lust, power, corruption, betrayal and revenge set in the seductive world of the Hollywood elite. Starring Campbell Scott ("Longtime Companion", "Roger Dodger"), Patricia Clarkson ("High Art", "Far From Heaven") and Peter Sarsgaard ("Boys Don't Cry", "Kinsey"), This Way Out's STEVE PRIDE [www.PrideOnScreen.com] says "The Dying Gaul" is a unique, thought-provoking post-modern Hollywood noir -- unsettling, unpredictable and morally explosive. He previews clips from the film and talks with writer/director CRAIG LUCAS and actress PATRICIA CLARKSON. ********************************************************* "This Way Out" is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit under the corporate name of OVERNIGHT PRODUCTIONS (INC.). Tho we will miss him so, the good news is Marshall will be leaving with all songs finished for his soon-to-be-released debut cd - ALL MY DEMONS. It contains Marshall's own refreshingly non-PC brand of original ruff & tumble country/western/rock same-sex tales told amidst a setting of smokin', drinkin', carousin' and all manner of illicit devil-made-me-do-it goin's on. ALL MY DEMONS includes 4 tracks "All the Man You Need", "Another Cigarette", "Moonshiner" and the CD's title track "All My Demons" - that were recorded, mixed & produced here at Urban Productions. Additionally, Urban Productions shot all photography for the CD's artwork. We wish Marshall all the best as he starts the new California chapter in his life. San Francisco is gonna luv him.
